    2017 Lecture - Industry 4.0

In August, the ISA Curitiba Section, in partnership with the Furukawa Group, held the presentation, "Industry 4.0 and the Emergence of New Models for Production Systems Management." Engineer Douglas Camargo von Hartenthal, partner of Laplace Industrial Automation and President Elect of ISA's Curitiba Section, commenced the event.

Hartenthal presented the vision and objectives of ISA, and demonstrated the advantages of becoming a member of the Society. He highlighted the benefits of constant information exchange and the broadening of a professional network among members.

After Hartenthal, guest speaker Professor Fernando Deschamps, Ph.D., spoke about the origin of the Industry 4.0, also known as the "fourth industrial revolution," and the main technologies that support it. He argued that the interactions among those technologies can only be fully exploited if leaders adopt new management models of production systems and integrate people's skills, technology characteristics, and the particularities of each company's business environment.

The exposition concluded with Marcos Raymundo Loest, M. Eng., who spoke on the topic of "Industry 4.0 in practice." Loest presented a diagnostic model of predisposition for Industry 4.0 that can predict, identify, and connect the concepts of industry 4.0 in Brazilian companies.

Industry 4.0 proved to be an exciting topic, and the talks led to a vibrant Q&A session. The ISA Curitiba Section offers lectures, courses, and workshops according to the needs of each institution. It offers a valuable contribution to the local community of engineering professionals and students.
