ISA and Beamex to co-host free webinar on calibration uncertainty

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (16 May 2017) - The International Society of Automation (ISA) and its corporate partner,Beamex, Inc., will co-host a free webinar 8 June 2017 on calibration uncertainty.

The webinar, which will be held from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, will feature two calibration experts: Ned Espy, Technical Director at Beamex; and Roy Tomalino, Calibration Engineer at Beamex.

“Recognizing the fundamental concept of measurement uncertainty is essential in calibration because every measurement made has an accuracy threshold and a degree of uncertainty behind the measurement,” emphasizes Tomalino. “As result, calibration professionals should not make any measurements until they understand how to properly calculate measurement uncertainty.”

The webinar, Tomalino says, “will demystify this commonly confused topic. It will provide real-life application examples of how uncertainty affects calibration results. For example, let’s say you need a mA reading to the µA (4 decimal places), and your meter only goes to 1 decimal. Is that good enough? Are you not sure? We’ll answer these critical questions.”

“By registering for this valuable webinar, calibration professionals will learn what information is needed to calculate uncertainty, how to identify contributors to uncertainty, and how to evaluate calculations to prevent overestimating or underestimating uncertainty,” says Jennifer Infantino Halsey, ISA's Director of Marketing & Communications. “ISA is pleased to co-sponsor this important free webinar with Beamex as part of our commitment to educate our members and customers and others in the automation community on topics of significant interest and value.”
