    This course covers the identification of automation benefit opportunities, scoping projects that will deliver real benefits to operations, and justifying the projects for corporate approval. The key to benefit identification is to look first at where the opportunities are, not at the desired control system. Justification of retrofitting existing, older (legacy) control systems with newer, more functional, control and information systems presents one of the significant challenges to automation professionals in the tough business climate of today; and only the most professional approach to quantifying benefits will achieve results.

    Manufacturing support engineers will find this course invaluable for reducing the cost of manufacturing with controls and for upgrading their control capability. Engineering groups and lead automation project engineers will learn how the justification process works and how to assist in its success. The material in this course is consistent with accepted project management terminology and concepts from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and with ISA's Certified Automation Professional® (CAP®) program.
